The Vancouver Canucks tried to go big in free agency this off-season, signing a handful of names to bigger contracts then they would've gotten elsewhere.

Ilya Mikheyev was one of those signings that was a little above market value. A talented player that earns arguably more than he deserves for a guy who's both injury prone and does not produce at a 4M and above cap hit level .

the oft injured Mikheyev had been listed as week-to-week to start training camp, but his lower body injury could be a little more concerning.

According to Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli, there's concern that the 27 year old could have torn his ACL, in which case, his timeline for return could be pushed back considerably.

Coming off a pretty nice season with the Toronto Maple Leafs last year scoring a career high 21 goals and 32 points. This was his chance to take on a bigger offensive role, and his season may be over before it's begun, you never know with these types of injuries.

I feel for the guy, if he didn't have bad luck he'd have no luck at all.
