People are starting to realize that your mental health is just as important as your physical health, sometimes people forget that players who play in the National Hockey League are just regular human beings as well that have different interests outside of hockey as well.

Take Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck for example, he's just co-authored a children's book for Manitoba that focuses on children's mental health, take a look:

This, to me is very important not only to the children of Manitoba, but hockey in general. Think about it, hockey typically has been a sport revered for its masculinity and playing through pain wether that be mental or physical. With this book, that very well could be changing.

Hellebuyck Is not only one of the best goaltenders in the NHL, but has historically been very open and honest. Things like this are why players cannot just stick to hockey.

I'm so glad we're past viewing hockey players as one dimensional beings only good for one thing, hockey. It's a needed change and one that has been a long time coming.
