During a segment on Hockey Night in Canada analyst Kevin Bieksa responded to hate he has seen sent toward Easton Cowan and team Canada.

Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan has faced a ton of backlash and humiliation after Canada's early exit at the World Junior Championships.

With Canada's loss to Czechia, it capped off one of the least successful tournaments for Hockey Canada and as a result, fans were irate and needed someone to blame.

One of the players who was placed front and center and made an example of after Canada's loss by the fans has been Easton Cowan.

Cowan has been ridiculed by fans online for his mistakes in both of Canada's biggest losses to Czechia and Latvia.

In the game against Latvia many called out Cowan for his uninspired shootout attempt.

Then Cowan was once again under fire after Canada's Quarterfinal exit against Czechia due to a 2 on 1 play where he failed to pass it over to fellow London Knight Oliver Bonk.

With both of these incidents leading to clear frustration and anger from fans Cowan has been the subject of a lot of hate online and former NHLer Kevin Bieksa has had enough.

Kevin Bieksa calls out Canadian fans for tearing apart Easton Cowan

During a segment on Hockey Night in Canada, former NHL defenseman and current analyst Kevin Bieksa spoke about the World Juniors backlash.

Bieksa called out fans for their disgusting reactions to the Canadians' loss and for mistreating Cowan and the entirety of Team Canada.

Yeah, but as a country, though, there should be a little bit more support than demanding victory and then when they lose think about all the people that are writing negative things online, Bieska said. Like, who does that? Who writes a negative thing online about a 16 to 20 year old playing their hearts out trying to win?

Bieksa's full comments can be seen below.

With the incident mostly behind these players now hopefully they can return to their respective junior teams and get back on track.

As for Hockey Canada they have a lot of work to do over the next 12 months to guarantee this type of disappointment is a thing of the past.

Do you think fans should be more mindful of the fact that the World Junior players are still just young men and not professionals yet?
