Charles Barkley is known to be a fan of the NHL, and now he's shown his support for an NCAA team after their big win over the weekend.

NCAA Hockey is a huge business much like other college sports, but when you get beyond Division II, it's safe to say that things aren't quite as glamorous as powerhouse schools in Division I would suggest.

Thankfully for one team in Div III this past weekend, they got the surprise of a lifetime, as NBA Legend and NBA on TNT (also appearing on NHL content throughout the Stanley Cup Playoffs a year ago) gave them a massive show of support.

After SUNY Fredonia picked up a huge win, videos circulated on social media of Barkley buying them all drinks at a bar after the game, noting that this was the first game of theirs he has ever been too.

«I went to the Fredonia State game tonight. They won 2 to zip. I've never been to Fredonia State before. You guys have been amazing. So for me, we're going to play some music that I listen to right now, and for the next five songs, for the next five songs, all drinks are free at the bar.»

Unsurprisingly, Barkley became a very popular man after showing this major act of support, on top of his already hugely popular celebrity status, especially among athletes.

Despite the relatively small setup, Barkley was doing the Ceremonial Puck Drop before the game as the team honoured the 30th Anniversary of the 1993-94 team that would go on to reach the NCAA Championship.

Ultimately, it's great to see people with the status of Barkley showing such support for athletes that may not get the plaudits in hockey of a CHL or an NCAA Div. 1 player, and after the win, they'll clearly have him back at any time.
