Logan Thompson has been one of the best goalies in the entire NHL this season.
In fact, he is right up there in the Vezina conversation with Connor Hellebuyck.
In 29 starts this season he has a 24-2-4 record, a 2.18 goals-against-average, and a .923 save percentage.
However, he was shocking left off of Team Canada for the upcoming Four Nations tournament.
After all, Thompson currently leads all Canadian goalies in save percentage, wins, and is just .02 behind Darcy Kuemper in GAA.
Surely he is Canada's best option in net for international games right now!
Based on the stats, he deserves to at least be on the roster even if he's not the starting goalie.
After all, each team gets to bring three netminders. And the reason he is not on the roster appears to be petty spite more than anything else.
According to new reports today, Thompson's former coaches Bruce Cassidy and Peter DeBoer didn't want him on the roster because they had a 'bad experience' with him in Vegas.
Understandably, fans are outraged by this revelation. This is a shocking level of immaturity and spite coming from grown men, who would apparently rather give up their best chance to win a tournament than have a disgruntled former coworker on the team.
If Canada loses the tournament, this will surely get a lot of attention, especially if their goaltenders fail to live up to expectations. So look for Cassidy and DeBoer to take the blame later this month if one of the other countries takes home the gold.
