With a father that played in the NHL, the pressure is certainly on Miroslav Satan Jr. to make a name for himself in hockey, and now he's off to the right start, competing for Team Slovkia at the 2025 World Juniors tournament in Ottawa.
Through three games, the team sit at 1-2-0 and in third place in Group B with some very tough competition, and now they've announced some dreadful injury news.
According to the team, the 6-foot-7 Satan Jr. is set to miss the rest of the tournament after suffering an injury on a hit from behind during their latest game, ending the promising start from the 18-year old.
While Satan Jr. hadn't effected the scoresheet in the tournament, tallying no points in three games played, with his size and leadership he was effective in other ways, and now as the team look to force their way into a potential medal game, they'll have to do so without a big, physical presence in the middle of their lineup.
In the 2024 NHL Draft, Miroslav Satan Jr. was selected in the seventh round by the Washington Capitals, and even though he has just 3 points in 19 games with the USHL, there's still plenty to like about his game moving forward.
We'll get further clarity in the near future on whether or not this is a long-term injury, or rather one that will simply keep him out for the next few weeks, but either way it's a very tough break for a young 18-year old who was looking to use this tournament as a way to show off his development.
