Tyler Bertuzzi, who signed with the Chicago Blackhawks over the summer, is probably not endearing himself to fans after slamming the city's signature dish

When you get signed by a new NHL city, the first thing you hope to do as a player is endear yourself to fans who are expecting better things to come. Tyler Bertuzzi, who signed a four-year deal with the Chicago Blackhawks over the summer worth $22 million, decided to take a different route at the team's training camp.

In an interview with reporters, Bertuzzi was asked how he's acclimating to the City of Chicago as this will be his first year as a Blackhawk. Bertuzzi took the time to tell Blackhawks fans how he feels about Chicago's favourite food, the deep-dish pizza.

"I had a deep-dish...I'm not a fan of it.

Yeah, it's just different, yeah.

I like...just normal pizza."

Tyler Bertuzzi had a good year offensively last year, scoring 21 goals and 43 points with the Toronto Maple Leafs. However, that ultimately ended his time with the team as there was no way Toronto could keep him and have enough room to sign other players. The Chicago Blackhawks gave him exactly what he was looking for at the time, which was an annual average value (AAV) of around $5 million. Bertuzzi will have the opportunity to play alongside young NHL phenom Connor Bedard.

Tyler Bertuzzi still has some time to get himself acquainted with the City of Chicago before the 2024-25 season officially gets underway. The Blackhawks have the honour of being the very first opponent of the NHL newest club, Utah HC, in Salt Lake City on Oct. 8. for both team's season opener.
