The Anaheim Ducks have traded their star defenseman Cam Fowler to a Western Conference rival.

Insider Elliotte Friedman announced on Saturday morning that the Anaheim Ducks have officially parted ways with the defenseman Cam Fowler.

The organization traded the veteran defenseman to the St. Louis Blues.

The full return hasn't been revealed yet, but David Pagnotta was the first to provide details:

Later, Friedman confirmed that the Ducks were sending Fowler and a fourth-round draft pick for a second-round pick and a prospect.

He also stated that the Ducks would retain nearly 40% of the defenseman's $6,500,000 AAV salary for another season after this one.

Fowler scored 96 goals and 361 assists in 991 regular-season games with the Ducks since 2010, but has struggled to maintain his level this year.

The 33-year-old, 6-foot-2 defenseman scored four points in 17 games and has a -7 rating.

The full details were finally revealed: Jérémie Biakabutuka is now a member of the Anaheim Ducks, and all the picks involved will be in the 2027 draft.

Biakabutuka is an undrafted 22-year-old defenseman from Quebec. He never played in the NHL but has played in the AHL and ECHL since 2022. This season, he had four points, including one goal, in 13 games with the Florida Everblades in the ECHL.

It'll be interesting to see what Fowler will bring to the Blues. His experience, leadership, and talent make him a great asset in St. Louis, especially with the high expectations on the team this year.

The Blues are currently 6th in the Central Division. If they want to compete against teams like the Colorado Avalanche, Winnipeg Jets and Minnesota Wild for a playoff spot, they'll need all the help they can get.

Management hopes that Fowler will play an important part in bringing the team back on the right track.
