Buffalo Sabres trade 11th overall pick to San Jose Sharks
On the eve of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, the Buffalo Sabres and San Jose Sharks have come together to complete a trade that'll eventually have an impact on the respective organizations.
In a post on social media on Thursday, the Sabres announced that they've traded the 11th overall pick in the first round tomorrow night to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for the 14th overall pick and a 2024 second round pick (42nd overall).
"The Buffalo Sabres have acquired a first-round pick (14th overall, originally belonging to Pittsburgh) and a second-round pick (42nd overall, originally belonging to New Jersey) in the 2024 NHL Draft from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a first-round pick (11th overall).
The Sabres now hold nine picks in the draft, which begins with Round 1 on Friday, June 28 at Sphere in Las Vegas. Rounds 2 through 7 will be held on Saturday, June 29." The Sabres said on their website.
It's been rumoured for a little while now that the Buffalo Sabres were open to trading the 11th overall pick, but many expected that it would be to either move up into the top-ten or for a player that can help their roster right away. It's still possible however that they flip the 14th overall pick for help right now, but we'll have to wait and see what tomorrow brings.
