The Colorado Avalanche and Vancouver Canucks have made a trade just days away from the beginning of the regular season.
With the NHL regular season just days away every team around the league is looking to solidify their rosters. With that being said, we knew that the waiver wire and potential trades would be more likely to happen before opening night.
With that being said, the Colorado Avalanche and the Vancouver Canucks have come together to make a trade.
Going to Vancouver is young defender Erik Brannstrom while the Avalanche get fellow defenceman Tucker Poolman and and a 4th round pick in the 2025 NHL entry draft.
Brannstrom, 25, played in 76 games for the Ottawa senators last season scoring 3 goals and adding 17 assists for a total of 20 points. A once highly touted prospect has just been unable to find his footing in the NHL.
Poolman, 31 did not play at all last season while desling with a migraine disorder due to head injuries.
It's a fresh start for Brannstrom and most likely a cap dump the Avalanche were willing to eat to get Brannstrom off their hands
