The 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs were not a high point for Andrew Cogliano of the Colorado Avalanche. Cogliano's team was disappointingly eliminated in the first round after winning the Cup the year before. To add to it, Cogliano went into the boards in an awful way in game 6 and could not play in game 7 following a hit from Jordan Eberle. Eberle received a two minute minor for boarding and no further discipline.

Cogliano spoke with reporters at training camp today. He told them he suffered two C6 fractures in his neck (C6 noting near the base of the neck). He also outlined what he went through over the summer.

"Really stiff. Headaches. Sleeping just wasn't an option, really. Pretty good pain in the back. Since your neck is so stiff you're getting bad headaches, bad migraines."

Right now, Cogliano is skating in a no-contact jersey. Amazingly, despite the horrible injury and symptoms, he said he's really pushing to be ready on opening night.

"I got a red jersey on out there, but sometimes it doesn't feel like it," said Cogliano, adding he's been going "full-out"
