Frost, 24, has taken time to develop. However, in 2023-24, he showed his first real signs of improvement, getting 19 goals and 46 points, career highs in both categories. There's very little doubt Frost and his agent want more money, but there's a risk involved for Flyers GM Danny Briere. There's no telling right now if Frost will continue to progress, or whether he's already reached his ceiling.
Philadelphia traded Brayden Schenn to the St. Louis Blues at the 2017 draft in order to acquire the pick used to take Frost. Then General Manager Ron Hextall had nothing but praise for him, saying the whole scouting staff agreed he was a player to take.
Frost is currently a restricted free agent. He cannot sign with another team unless he is traded their first. Frost's only option, other than signing a new deal before the beginning of next season, is to sit out games in the hopes that he can get more money.
