The Vancouver Canucks have been dealing with non-stop drama over the past few months, and now Elliotte Friedman has the latest on their trade plans.
The Vancouver Canucks came into 2024/25 chasing a Stanley Cup, but with injuries and drama off the ice, they start 2025 on the outside looking in at a Stanley Cup Playoffs spot.
The biggest thing surrounding this team right now is the drama involving Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller, with the feud between the two going public as many different opinions have been given about how to how to resolve the issue.
Now, top NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has again weighed in on the situation, noting that the Canucks are seemingly listening on both players as they look to find a resolution to their issues.
I believe everybody knows that Vancouver are open to listening. I believe they have already, on both players and will continue to do so. But I still think that Vancouver's preference is that both of them grow up and figure it out.»
If this had of been dealt with, the team could have no doubt moved on and chased the Stanley Cup, but according to Friedman that simply hasn't happened, with everyone in the organization now feeling the frustration and effects of the entire saga.
«The fact that it's still a thing (the feud) has begun to spill over into other parts of the organization. And, to me, it's clearly bothering (Coach Rick) Tocchet that this is still a thing. I believe it's bothering (captain, Quinn) Hughes that it's still a thing,» Friedman said. «And now, it's spread to where everybody has to deal with it.»
Since that was said, Paul Bissonnette has noted just how desperate New York are to bring back Miller, and with frustration mounting, the likelihood of a deal grows the more frustration grows.
Ultimately, this team could get a haul back for either player, and while it may not be the ideal move for the team on the ice to make a deal, the players are simply forcing the hand of the organization, so don't be shocked to see either moved in the near future.
