Long-time Boston Bruins forward officially retires from professional hockey
Despite announcing his retirement from the NHL over the summer, long-time Boston Bruins forward David Krejci was hoping to play one more time for his nation, Czechia, on home ice at the 2024 IIHF World Hockey Championship.
Unfortunately, due to injuries he's suffered while training, Krejci's playing career has officially come to a close.
"David Krejci has determined that his lower body injuries will not allow him to play for Czechia at their home World Championship in 2024. This means he is officially retiring from ice hockey at the age of 37."
The Sternberk, Czechia native appeared in 1,032 games for the Boston Bruins, putting up 786 points (231 goals, 555 assists), helping them win a Stanley Cup in 2011.
On the international stage, Krejci played for Czechia at four World Championships and three Winter Olympics.
Congratulations to David Krejci on a solid professional hockey career and all the best in retirement!
