Despite low expectations coming into the new season, the Anaheim Ducks have been fairly competitive early in the 2024/25 campaign, posting a 10-11-3 record through their first 24 games played with their young names leading the way.
This success relative to expectations has come in spite of Trevor Zegras' struggles, with the former first-round pick posting just 4 goals and 10 points through 24 games played, with many noting on social media how little fun the once electric player appears to be having.
Unfortunately, things now appear to be going from bad to worse for the 23-year old star, as he has now suffered an injury during the Ducks recent matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights.
In slow motion, it appears to be a very small amount of incidental contact that takes Zegras down, but after it happened, he immediately waved to the bench, signalling that he knew something was wrong.
Last season, Zegras had to deal with the injury bug as well, as he was limited to just 31 games for the Ducks, leading to plenty of trade speculation as the talent remains there, but he has simply struggled to get on the ice consistently.
It's unclear what this injury is, and after the game there was no clarification given on Zegras' injury, and given that the young star finally started to turn things around with six points in his last six games, so we hope that he can manage to get back on the ice and continue producing at a solid pace for this rebuilding Ducks team.
