The Bruins are in a tough spot at the moment. They are in 3rd place in the Atlantic Division, but all signs point to them falling out of the playoffs.
They have gone 3-6-1 over their last ten games, and have a -26 goal differential, far worse than the Tampa Bay Lightning who are just one point back with 6 games in hand.
Trade rumors have surrounded the team since their slow start and one player in particular has been brought up multiple times.
Early in December, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that teams were asking about Trent Fredric
At the very end of the month, Friedman shared another update on the situation stating that teams were continuing to inquire about the 26-year-old.
The fact that Elliotte Friedman of all people brought up Fredric's name in trade discussions twice in such a short period of time is a very strong indication that something is going on there.
Now we have even more rumblings as fellow insider Darren Dreger has stated that the Bruins are considering making a move.
Trent Frederic as well as fellow forward Justin Brazeau are two names that have once again emerged as likely trade candidates.
In fact, Fredric made Frank Seravalli's top five trade targets in the new year.
Frederic and Brazeau play fairly similar roles so it may very well be one or the other but not both for Boston.
Fredric has 6 goals and 12 points in 44 games this year while Brazeau has 10 goals and 18 points in 40 games.
Both players are relatively young at 26 years old and both would be great additions to playoff bound teams.
If the Bruins tenuous grasp on their playoff spot does in fact fall apart, look for these two names to be in even more trade rumors as the March 7th trade deadline approaches.
