Flyers fans were not easy on Cutter Gauthier tonight as he played his first NHL game in the city since being traded.

Gauthier was infamously traded to the Anaheim Ducks last year after it came out that he did not want to play for the team.

At least, that is the official story that we have heard from the Flyers front office.

There has still been a lot of speculation and rumors regarding this matter, but we may never know for sure exactly how the Flyers relationship with Gauthier fell apart so suddenly.

That being said, Gauthier's actions have given us some clues as to what happened.

For example, he once liked a video of Sean Avery insulting Flyers fans.

Similarly, Flyers president of hockey operations Keith Jones seemingly took a shot at Gauthier after the trade, reaffirming the idea that Gauthier did not want to play for the organization.

Flyers fans tend to take these kinds of things pretty seriously and we saw that tonight.

Ahead of warmups, team security reportedly was secretly confiscating signs from fans that mentioned Gauthier in an effort to avoid any serious drama.

That being said, they can take away the signs but they can't take away their voices.

Early in the game, the crowd had all the chirps ready for the Ducks rookie, with one particularly mean chant taking over Wells Fargo Center.

Of course, they also brought out the standard boos for him as he hit the ice for warmups.

It is probably safe to say that Gauthier will be booed every time he takes the ice in Philadelphia not only tonight, but for the rest of his career.
