The Chicago Blackhawks have struggled for much of the 2024/25 season, and with many expecting them to be active ahead of the trade deadline, they started over the weekend with a blockbuster deal that sent Seth Jones to the Florida Panthers.
Now, they may not be done according to top NHL Insider Kevin Weekes, who has now revealed that the team are getting plenty of interest in forward Ryan Donato, who is having a stellar season on a very poor team.
The 28-year old is headed for free agency over the summer, and with the Blackhawks needing every future asset that they can get as they continue to rebuild, it would be wise to listen to offers on not only Donato, but any other veteran as well.
In 58 games this season, Donato has tallied 21 goals and 43 points, and while he's a -9, his numbers would look much, much better on a contending team that give him a clear role surrounded by talent.
Donato has been on such a scoring pace as of late that his numbers match up with the likes of Hagel, Draisaitl and Duchene among others, and seeing what the Blackhawks got for Jones on a bad contract, it's easy to see them getting a huge return for Donato.
With just days to go until the deadline, it's unclear which teams are in the mix for Donato and what teams have offered Chicago, but at 28-years old on a good deal with plenty of production behind him, there's a good chance he's moved in the next few days.
