This season has been a rollercoaster ride already for the Colorado Avalanche, with the team losing six of their top-nine forwards just 10 games into their season. Unfortunately, there's now been more injury luck, as an Avalanche reporter has revealed that Ross Colton will miss the next 6-8 weeks with a broken foot, another huge loss for this team.
In those 10 games, Colton has tallied 8 goals and 9 points, becoming one of the most reliable players on the team, but now he joins a list of Miles Wood, Jonathan Drouin, Gabriel Landeskog, Artturi Lehkonen and Valeri Nichushkin out of the lineup. While the news on Colton certainly isn't good, it's much better news for Wood, who will miss just 7-10 days with an injury that he's been playing through, which is one of the first lucky breaks this team has had this season.
With the team already forced to play Nikolai Kovalenko on the first line as well as young names like Ivan Ivan and TJ Tynan, they've now made another shock decision, as it has been revealed that Oliver Kylington, a defenseman will step up into the forwards and play on the fourth line on Wednesday.
While he has the skill of a forward, this is a spot that the 27-year old has never played in his professional career, but with the team down on troops, he was happy to step into the role to get some time in the lineup. Despite all of these injuries and their struggles in net, the Avalanche have managed to get themselves back to 5-5-0 on the season through 10 games, but with Colton out for an extended period and no return timeline for Drouin, Lehkonen, Landeskog and Nichushkin, it's safe to say that this wild ride of a season has no end in sight for the Avalanche.
