Duchene Lights up Nashville In Return
Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene returned to a place that he didn't want to leave on Thursday night when his Stars were in Nashville to face the Predators.
The 33 year old was a surprise buy out by the Predators last summer after putting up 56 points in 71 games. Duchene said he had no idea the bad news was coming.
"No," he said when asked if he had any inkling a buyout was on the table. "Zero. None."
"I've never cried so much in my life."
This led the former 3rd overall pick from 2009 to sign a one-year, $3 million contract with the Stars. Duchene has came into the season reinvigorated scoring 21 goals and 52 points in 53 games with his new club.
When the Stars arrived to play Nashville it was understandable that Duchene has some extra fire in the tank for the game. Dallas laid a 9-2 mauling on the home team with Duchene scoring 2 goals to give him six points in his last three games.
Duchene would finish the game and take his musical talents up the street to Tootsies, a popular establishment just across the street from Bridgestone Arena to perform a musical set.
It would have been a great night for Duchene who was able to get some revenge on his former team and then got to enjoy the music scene in Nashville that he loves so much.
