Since Saturday night's meeting with the Vancouver Canucks, there's been plenty of uproar in Edmonton about Connor McDavid's treatment, with the league officially handing down a three-game suspension to the Oilers captain after he cross-checked Vancouver's Conor Garland to the face.
Despite this, a report from TSN's Chris Johnston has now revealed that McDavid doesn't plan to appeal the suspension, which was the same as Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers, who also used a cross-check to the face during the brutal divisional showdown.
This comes on the back of constant complains from the Oilers media about how McDavid was being treated during this game and many others, simply because he's one of the best players in the world.
That's no excuse for reacting the way he did, as he put Garland in a position to be seriously injured with this play, and in the eyes of many fans around the league, he was lucky to just get the three-games that he did.
Sure, McDavid and Garland were going at it on the ground, but this isn't a dangerous play from Garland who was simply getting physical to stop No. 97, and in retaliation, McDavid took it to a level that was simply not warranted.
Even without their captain in the lineup, the Oilers have Leon Draisaitl to lead the way, and with a talented roster from top to bottom, don't be surprised if this team continues to roll during the three-game absence of McDavid, as this team has hit their groove through the midway point of the season.
