Insider share what an extension for Edmonton Oilers Leon Draisaitl may look like
Theoretically, Edmonton Oilers centre Leon Draisaitl has been riding on the coattails of Connor McDavid for years as the two were drafted in consecutive drafts in 2014 & 2015 respectively.
Although the two work well together and are arguably the two best players in the National Hockey League. With Draisaitl due for an extension, an insider has shed light on what it could look like after next season.
David Pagnotta of TheFourthPeriod was a guest on this week's episode of the Hello Hockey Show with Tom Gazzola & Shawn Belle and reported that the deal may look similar to an Auston Matthews-type deal in regards to length but will continue to talk specifics until a deal can be agreed upon.
Even if the length of the deal seems a bit short, it shouldn't mean that Edmonton Oilers fans should be concerned as to whether Draisaitl chooses to leave. While it's possible, there has been zero indication that he wants to play anywhere else other than Edmonton.
For Draisaitl's efforts, the twenty-eight-year-old has put up ridiculous numbers including 347 goals and 503 assists in 719 games played during the regular season. In 74 post-season contests, he's amassed 42 goals and 108 points including 51 penalty minutes.
