The booing of the United States anthem has become a big story in the sporting world as of late, and on Saturday night that continued in Ottawa as the Senators took on the San Jose Sharks.
The Senators ended up winning that game vs the Sharks by a score of 5-3.
They then went to Washington last night and lost in Overtime. With the overtime loss, the Senators are now one point and two spots back in the Eastern Conference Wild Card race, and with the possibility of missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs again, there's been plenty of speculation that captain Brady Tkachuk could be on the way out of Ottawa soon.
That sentiment has grown even stronger as of late, with the Senators captain showing clear signs of frustration as the anthem was booed on Saturday night, with many reading between the lines and seeing that his future in the NHL may not be in Canada.
After the Four Nations Face Off, Brady got to share the ice with his brother and represent his nation, and given the passion and love he showed for the United States on that stage and with the Olympic Games coming up, that possibility is becoming more and more likely now.
In seven seasons at the NHL level, Tkachuk is yet to experience the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and with the growing frustration around the anthem and his teams lack of success, the writing is clearly on the wall.
Brady is under contract in Ottawa for another three seasons in Ottawa after this one, so it's safe to say that a move isn't that easy in the next few years, but if the team miss the post-season this year, it's hard to see a world in which they can keep him beyond his current deal.
