Over the last month, the Vancouver Canucks have been trying to resolve what seems to be an intense disagreement between J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson.
Throughout the month of December, many sources confirmed that the two players have not gotten along for several seasons now with even former head coach Bruce Boudreau talking about the rift between the two star players.
Now this afternoon former Canucks forward Brad Richardson who played with both Pettersson and Miller while this conflict was first developing has given his side of how he tried to resolve things years ago.
In a new episode of the Missin Curfew Podcast former NHL forward Brad Richardson opened up about his experience with Miller and Pettersson.
He began by admitting he loved both Miller and Pettersson and wishes they would be able to work things out.
Richardson then admits this all began with Miller being extremely tough on Pettersson and the young Swede not responding well.
Richardson continued and admitted knowledge of continued high tension and then eluded to the idea that the only way for things to truly be resolved is likely for someone to be traded whether it be Miller or Pettersson.
With now multiple sources from within the Canucks locker room talking about the breakdown between Pettersson and Miller it seems that this is a problem that just will not go away.
Clearly Miller comes from more of a traditional hard coaching background whereas Pettersson comes from the more new-age type of approach and both seem too stuck in their ways to compromise.
As the season continues this story will be one to follow to see if the Canucks can find a way to work things out or if a trade is truly the only option.
