An insider has revealed why newly signed Vancouver Canucks forward Daniel Sprong can never sign a longer term deal, despite being a productive NHLer.
The Vancouver Canucks signed Daniel Sprong to a one year deal yesterday worth 975K, which is a lot lower than people thought he would sign for given his production and contract projection. There has to be a catch, right? An insider has let it slip.
According to Rob Simpson of Vancouver Hockey Insider.com, the reason Sprong has never been able to find stable work in the NHL with one team consistently has to do with his presence in the locker room.
The #Canucks just signed Daniel Sprong. Does he bring baggage? Rumours of bad mojo? Some say so.
@Canucks
Rumour has it he's not the best guy in the room. Whether that concept regarding chemistry is true remains to be seen for a Canucks dressing room that will do its best to acclimate the 27-year-old native of the Netherlands.
Despite decent numbers over the last couple of years he can never seem to sign a big money deal and problems in the locker room appear to the issue.
Either way, for a mid forward who can be a 20 goal scorer, that's a gamble you take.
