The Vancouver Canucks have perhaps been the team with the most drama this season.
For months rumors swirled around Elias Pettersson and JT Miller before finally, the team traded Miller to the New York Rangers.
Many fans thought and hoped that the trade would end the drama and things would quickly return to normal.
Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case. If anything, the Canucks seem to be mired in an even worse situation now.
Yesterday, the Canucks did not have a team practice. They also did not hold a morning skate ahead of tonight's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
This is very unusual and many seem to think that it could have something to do with Elias Pettersson.
This is because trade speculation has not calmed down since Miller was traded.
NHL reporter Stefan Rosner reported this morning that there is a non-zero percent chance the Canucks trade Pettersson even after moving Miller.
This is backed up by NHL insider Darren Dreger who seems to believe that Pettersson will more likely than not be traded by the Canucks soon.
Obviously, this would be another massive change for the organization.
Combined, Pettersson and Miller had 20 goals and 68 points for the Canucks this season, and that is with both players having a down year.
Just two seasons ago, the two forwards combined for 76 goals and 205 points. That's well over 2 points per game from the duo.
It is hard to imagine how things have deteriorated so quickly, but here we are.
If the Canucks do in fact move Pettersson, that could set the team back into retool mode, which would be a hard pill for their fans to swallow one year after winning the Pacific Division.
Hopefully it does not come to that, but at this point, all bets are off in Vancouver.
