The Los Angeles Kings' top-four defenseman Joel Edmundson momentarily left last night's game after a scary incident.

Yesterday, the Tampa Bay Lightning were in Los Angeles to play against the Kings. In an action-packed game, goaltender Darcy Kuemper made 34 saves to help the Kings win 2-1 over the Bolts.

The Kings won their fourth straight game, while the Lightning suffered their third consecutive loss.

During the game, a wild incident occurred involving the Kings defenseman Joel Edmundson.

In the third period, Edmundson jumped to catch a pass flying out of the offensive zone but was hit before he got back on his skates by Zemgus Girgensons.

Edmundon flew in the air and collapsed on the ice in an awkward angle, landing on his neck in a scary way.

A lot of concerns emerged for Edmundson, as many fans were afraid he had injured his neck or got a concussion.

Fortunately, he got back in the game a few minutes later.

Check out the incident between Edmundon and Girgensons in the video below:

Losing Edmundson to an injury would've been a tough blow for his team. The former Stanley Cup champion is a key element of the Kings defensive unit, with a +12 rating after 36 games this season. He also scored 10 points, including four goals.

The Kings are currently 2nd in the Pacific Division, tied with the Edmonton Oilers at 51 points. They trail behind the Vegas Golden Knights, the best team in the NHL this season, who has 57 points after 39 games.

Edmundson and the Kings will be back in action Wednesday as they receive the Calgary Flames in L.A.

With a win, the Flames could get past the Vancouver Canucks in the standings at the 4th spot in the division. As for the Kings, they would tighten the gap with the Golden Knights to four points.
