This afternoon the New Jersey Devils made the decision to place 30-year-old defenseman Nick DeSimone on waivers to assign him to the AHL.

Another day in the NHL means yet another day of roster moves and today the Devils have been the most active placing veteran defenseman Nick DeSimone on waivers according to Elliotte Friedman and others.

With DeSimone now on waivers, every team in the NHL will have the opportunity to claim him and bring him back to the NHL with a new organization.

If DeSimone goes unclaimed he will be sent back to the AHL to play with the Utica Comets where he has spent the majority of this season playing 12 games and tallying 3 points.

DeSimone brings a solid two-way game and has shown a good ability to play at the NHL level without looking out of place.

At 6'2 DeSimone is a prototypical defenseman and his experience at both the NHL and AHL levels could appeal to another NHL team for a potential claim in the next 24 hours.

Now DeSimone will play the waiting game as he learns his fate regarding the future of his pro career.

Throughout his career, DeSimone has played 38 games in the NHL and 3 organizations, starting with the San Jose Sharks after a standout NCAA career at Union College.

Depending on the results of his waiver process DeSimone will either get to continue living out his NHL dream or be sent to Utica in the AHL where he will have to work his way back up and earn another opportunity from the Devils.
