Aaron Ekblad injures his back on a huge hit by Alex Ovechkin
Alex Ovechkin usually likes to change the game with the puck on his stick, but he also has the ability to change a game with his physicality. On the very first shift of the game Ovechkin reminder Aaron Ekblad just how physical he can be.
As Ekblad stepped up to try and play the puck Ovechkin stepped up on him and sent him flying. On the play Ekblad came down hard on his back and was left reeling.
After the hit Ekblad can be seen on the bench hunched over in significant pain. Ekblad returned for the second period but he was only capable of playing 3 shifts in the period with less than 90 seconds of total ice time. This is a situation to watch as the Capitals attempt to tie the series.
