Alex Ovechkin has left the Washington Capitals for personal reasons
Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals are pushing to make a late push for the playoffs. But family always comes first and that's the exact reason that Ovechkin has opted to depart the Capitals effective immediately.
The announcement was made this morning that Alex Ovechkin has left the Capitals to tend to a family matter.
Washington Capitals senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today that captain Alex Ovechkin will be away from the team to attend to a family matter and the health of a loved one.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ovechkin and his entire family as they battle this difficult situation.
