Alex Romanov lays out Miles Wood with the perfect body check, then Michael McLeod gets misconduct for jumping in with a visor
The New York Islanders faced off against New Jersey Devils tonight in New Jersey. The Devils were looking to remain hot, while the Islanders are looking to climb back into the top 3 in the Metro Division.
During the 2nd period of tonight's game, Miles Wood attempted to carry the puck deep into the Islanders' zone. Unfortunately for Woods, Alex Romanov had other ideas. As Woods attempted to slide through, Romanov closed the gap and delivered a massive hit that sent Woods to the ice hard.
The Devils and specifically Michael McLeod immediately went after Romanov. On the play Romanov received a 5 minute major, while McLeod received 5 minutes for fighting, 2 minutes for instigating and a rare 10 minute misconduct for instigating while wearing a visor.
The Islanders went onto win the game 6-4, delivering the Devils only their 5th regulation loss of the season.
