When the Anaheim Ducks decided to play hardball with Trevor Zegras fans wondered why they remained so insistent on nickel and dining their franchise player. While Zegras ultimately ended up signing after a brief holdout, it now appears abundantly clear why Anaheim was so insistent. That's because it now appears Zegras is not in the long-term plans of the Ducks.
Less than 24 hours after the Ducks dealt former top pick Jamie Drysdale, it now appears their restructuring isn't done. According to Darren Dreger of TSN, the Ducks are currently shopping Zegras as well.
If the Ducks do end up making the decision to move Zegras they'd look to rebuild around a core of players like Cutter Gauthier and Leo Carlsson along with whom ever they select in the upcoming NHL Draft this year.
This season has been a serious disappointing for the Ducks who had hoped they would take a major step forward but once again find themselves near the bottom of the Western Conference.
