Auston Matthews refuses autographs for adults, but stops to sign children's jerseys
Auston Matthews is one of the biggest stars in the NHL. He's easily the most marketable American born players and his Hart Trophy as the league's best player pushed him into another stratosphere popularity wise. With that popularity comes requests for things like autographs and photos, something Matthews is asked for constantly.
So as an athlete you need to find a way to balance being approachable and maintaining your personal time and space.
On Wednesday Matthews and the Maple Leafs were in Gravenhurst for the end of camp team trip. This trip includes practice and preparation for their final two preseason games of the year. Upon arrival Matthews spotted a group of fans waiting for autographs outside of the arena. To those in attendance they noted that Matthews took the time to sign every jersey of every child, while ignoring every adult.
Obviously no one likes to get snubbed but it's always great to see Matthews interact with the young fans.
