Bobby Ryan issues his first statement since being arrested for public intoxication
Bobby Ryan was arrested yesterday in Nashville for public intoxication. The arrest documents outline that Ryan was flagged for leaving the airport store without paying for merchandise, before leaving the products on a nearby counter. Authorities opted to not charge Ryan with theft, but instead opted to charge him only the public intoxication charge.
Ryan, who has battled his sobriety for years, had previously been enrolled in the NHL Substance Abuse Program for alcohol abuse. Ryan who struggled through a very difficult upbringing had been very candid about his struggles in the past.
Today Ryan issued the following statement via his Twitter account.
I've had so many incredible messages today. Thank you for all of them. Today is day 1 (again). Mostly embarrassed, but I shouldn't be. Today I'm waking up and choosing better.
Hopefully Ryan can get the help he needs for the battle with this awful disease that his addiction. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ryan during this tough time.
