The Montreal Canadiens are one of the worst teams in the National Hockey League this season and they've just suffered a loss that will likely keep them in the basement, only getting worse for the remainder of the season.
The Canadiens official Twitter account just provided an update on Cole Caufield who requires shoulder surgery and will miss the remainder of the season.
It's not clear when he sustained the injury, but he might've had a problem with his shoulder dating back to this big in December against the Calgary Flames.
Caufield, 22, has played in 46 games will the Canadiens this season scoring 26 goals and adding 10 assists for 36 points in his sophomore season.
Montreal can't catch a break this year, but if it's any consolation, they have just increased their chances at drafting Connor Bedard.
