There's a school of thought around the game of hockey that fighting shouldn't exist in today's game. After all, it's not the era of the Broad Street Bullies anymore, there's so much speed and skill in the game that there isn't a need for the typical enforcers of old. I wouldn't tell these guys that though.
Ice Wars is set to make it's return for the second event of the year and first since May. The event is to take place on August 6th in Edmonton. Ice wars is like boxing match, on skates, wearing MMA gloves.
The card is to include 15 fights and is set to feature a cruiserweight division for the first time.
Promotion President AJ Galante had this to say In a press release:
One value that I will never compromise is loyalty. The River Cree never blinked when we wanted to bring our first event there. They were beyond welcoming and accommodating. It's easy to jump on a bandwagon when things look like they are trending in a positive direction, but the River Cree Resort & Casino has a special place in my heart as well as the hearts of our organization who have worked hard to get this sport off the ground.
If Galante's name sounds familiar, it's because he was known as the general manager of the Danbury Trashers who played in the United Hockey League from 2004 to 06 and are featured in a special on Netflix
