One has to wonder, how Gary Bettman is still the commissionaire of the National Hockey League when he very clearly doesn't understand how the game of hockey actually works. During an intermission during the game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Colorado Avalanche and the Tampa Bay Lightning regarding rule changes that took effect in 2005, having a direct correlation on how much offence there is in the game today, specifically, the introduction of the salary cap.
Gary, we know you love the hard cap and all your rules changes throughout the years, but to attribute the level of scoring in todays game to something that happened 17 years ago, is, well it's something to say the least.
I'm of the mind that one of two things happened to the commissionaire here: 1) He doesn't realize it's been 17.. yes 17 years since then, or 2) like so many people these days, he frames «the truth» to try and make himself look good.
I have news for you Mr. Bettman, this interview didn't do the latter. It's only made you look like you don't understand hockey, but quite frankly, that's already been evident for quite a few years.
