Bruce Boudreau gets emotional while discussing what it means to coach in the NHL
Everyone in the hockey world knows exactly what's happening in Vancouver. The Canucks have already made the decision to replace Bruce Boudreau, but their replacement coach, Rick Tocchet, has to give appropriate notice to his current employer TNT.
Tocchet has spent this entire season working as an analyst for the NHL on TNT. Rumors have it that Tocchet has to give TNT a months notice before he can return to the NHL. Lost in all of this is the human element surrounding current coach Bruce Boudreau.
Boudreau was hired last season by Canuck's owner, Francesco Aquilini, and came in to takeover the team during one of the lowest points in franchise history. Boudreau brought the team back to respectability and was embraced by the fan base for getting the best out of his team.
Unfortunately this season hasn't gone the way the Canucks had hoped, due to management's ineptitude and inability to ice a competitive team. Those failures though, are falling on Boudreau. Now Boudreau continues to work for the Canucks with class, despite knowing that his fate has already been unofficially sealed.
Today Boudreau was asked what being an NHL coach has meant to him and while answering, he got a little emotional.
However this situation ends up, Boudreau has handled this with class and dignity and he deserves the utmost respect for that.
