Two weeks ago the Carolina Hurricanes were eyeing the Stanley Cup, while they still are that journey just got significantly tougher. With Frederik Andersen already out of the lineup with what appeared to be a significant injury. Today news got even worse for the Carolina Hurricanes.

With approximately 13 minutes elapsed in the second period, Antti Raanta kicked out his right pad and immediately grimaced in pain. Raanta would stay down on the ice, for being assisted to the locker room.

Two different angles of the play show that it appears that as Raanta extends his leg he immediately feels something. In my experience, this sort of play usually indicates either a knee or groin injury.

If Raanta is set to miss any time it will be a serious blow to the Hurricanes playoff chances. Especially if Andersen is unable to return from the injury he sustained.

The Hurricanes would be forced to turn to 22-year-old, Pyotr Kochetkov. Pyotr, has only played one career NHL game at this time, a victory over the New Jersey Devils. For the Hurricanes sake a return for either of their top two goalies would go a long way.
