Last night's game between the LA Kings and Anaheim Ducks was the final time Ryan Getzlaf would face off against his state rivals. But that isn't why last night's game is still drawing attention. In the final seconds of the game, Arthur Kaliyev cross-checked Josh Mahura in the back of the head.

The cross-check set off a scrum that would eventually lead to Kaliyev being awarded a game misconduct. After reviewing the cross-check the NHL Department of Player Safety decided that it warranted supplemental discipline.

Today the league announced the following:

Los Angeles' Arthur Kaliyev has been fined $2,235.42, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for Cross-checking Anaheim's Josh Mahura.

This slap on the wrist likely won't do anything to deter anyone in the future from such action.
