The Chicago Blackhawks are entering their first official year of a rebuild. After adding Seth Jones and Marc-Andre Fleury last summer, the team had high hopes last season. Unfortunately for the Hawks the team fell completely flat. By Christmas it was clear the Hawks were destined for the bottom of the standings and at the Deadline they began their teardown process.

Over the last six months the Hawks traded Brandon Hagel, Marc-Andre Fleury, Kirby Dach and Alex DeBrincat, leaving very little on the active roster. Interest immediately turned to Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane as the next logical trade choices. Rumors swirled over the summer that the Hawks were trying to trade both men, but General Manager Kyle Davidson made it clear the choice would be upto those players.

With the season right around the corner and players reporting to camp it appears those talks have gone nowhere. According to multiple sources both Toews and Kane are taking a wait and see approach to see how this season goes. Both camp Davidson addressed the trade talks.

There haven't been any conversations with other teams about trading Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. We're not anywhere near that point.

If and when the time comes to move these players there are likely to be many teams interested in adding their Cup Winning experience. Kane has already been linked to the Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs, while interest in Toews appears to be a lot lower right now.
