William Nylander and Rasmus Sandin not only share the same team, but they same agent too.

That agent's name is Lewis Gross, who back in 2018 let young forward, Nylander take charge in driving the negotiations, for his next contract.

Agent Lewis Gross on the William Nylander contract negotiations: «This was not Michael driving the bus. This was not me driving the bus. This was Willy driving the bus.»

Is this the same philosophy Nylander is using in defense of his teammate?

Nylander on Sandin's contract situation (went through it a few years ago): «It's obviously a hard and weird position. All he wants to do is be here. Hopefully it gets sorted.»

Advice to him: «You just do what you've got to do.»

Back in August, it was reported that negotiations were going nowhere, which cause a rebuttal for Gross' tactics.

Negotiating contracts via the media have an adverse impact on player (and) team reputation and traditionally do not create resolutions to private matters," Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas texted Wednesday when informed of Gross's comments.

Given that there's been tension between Gross and Dubas before, Nylander's comment will no doubt stir the pot, as Sandin misses the start of training camp.

In a show of player-to-player solidarity, will Dubas collapse to Sandin's needs as the Leafs start with cap issues and with Liljegren out?
