TV color commentator Mike Johnson indicates that Caufield's next contract might mimic what Tim Stutzle from the Ottawa Senators just signed for. Stutzle's deal was an eight year deal worth almost sixty-seven million dollars. That works out to an average salary of $8.35 million per season. It does seem like NHL players and their agents like to use comparisons of other players when negotiating new contracts. Like Caufield, Stutzle is a big part of his team's future as well.
