I don't know if we have ever had a trade deadline with so much talent available for trade, but the prize jewell of the deadline is definitely J.T. Miller. With 22 goals, 63 points in 55 games for a poor Canucks team this season, he is guaranteed to make any team he goes to better.

The Colorado Avalanche are rumoured to be in big on Milller, with a name no one ever thought would be thrown around being rumoured to be part of the trade, Bowen Byram.

Byram is a former 4th overall pick in 2019, and when healthy has blossomed into quite the young star. But the key words are "when healthy". In his rookie season, Byram only managed to play in 19 games, and this season injures have kept him out of all but 18 games, but registered 11 points on a crowded blue line in those 18.

With a blue line consisting of Makar, Girard, Toews, Johnson & Murray and adding in prospects like Barron, Behrens & Helleson, the Avalanche are set on the back end for a long time. So while fans may be upset trading away such a potential superstar talent, this deal could pay off huge for the Avalanche come playoff time.
