The Columbus Blue Jackets are in the 2nd year of their "re-tool" and they've suffered some serious setbacks. Defenseman Zach Werenski is out injured and so is star winger, Jakub Voracek as a result of a concussion.

The offensive output Voracek helped spark on the ice last season, is missing as Voracek has been out indefinitely and may have to go the way of other long-term NHLers like Ryan Ellis.

Kekalainen says that he is "more worried about [Voracek] having a normal life," than he is him returning to play.

Voracek, 33, has played just 11 games this season, recording one goal and six points.

Voracek has had a history of head injuries and hasn't been medically cleared to return since this recent concussion.

According to Aaron Portzline of The Athletic:

The Blue Jackets released an ominous statement on Friday saying that doctors have advised Voracek not to play until his «ongoing symptoms subside,» while adding that they «don't expect a resolution in the near future.»

This would be a huge loss for the hockey world, as Voracek was a key player for the Philadelphia Flyers during his tenure and his sparring with the Media there always entertained us.

The Winger began his NHL career in Columbus and it is troubling that he may have to call it so soon, in the place it all started.

If his 15-year career were to end today, Voracek played 1,058 NHL games, with 223 goals, 583 assists, and, 806 points total.

Voracek will hold a press conference on Monday at Nationwide Arena to provide clarity on his current situation.
