Connor McDavid (66) and Leon Draisaitl (56) sit 1 and 2 in NHL scoring this season. Many consider this duo the two best players in the entire world. Unfortunately for the Edmonton Oilers that individual success hasn't translated into their overall team success. The Oilers currently sit outside of the playoff picture in the Western Conference, trailing the Calgary Flames by 1 point.

On Friday night the Oilers were outclassed by the Vancouver Canucks losing 5-2 and no one on the team was happy about it. Veteran forward Derek Ryan called out his teammates and their lack of interest in playing any team defense. After the game McDavid has some pretty harsh words of his own about the team's performance.

Uhmmm yah a lot of little things. It's a little bit like whack a mole right now. One problem pops up and we solve that. Then another one pops up. Obviously we just need to find consistency throughout our whole game. 5 on 5, Powerplay, penalty kill, all of it. It just needs to be consistent on a more nightly basis.

It's clear by McDavid's answers and his body language that this season is getting to him. The more the Oilers struggle the more the pressure falls on the young superstar. If the Oilers miss the playoffs this year in the Pacific Division alarm bells will definitely be sounding around the entire organization.
