Last summer goaltender Darcy Kuemper was traded to the Colorado Avalanche from the Arizona Coyotes, in exchange for Conor Timmins, a first-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, and a conditional third-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft. While it seemed like a steep price many didn't realize just how outstanding a goalie Kuemper was after years playing in Arizona.
Last season Kuemper finally got the recognition he deserved having a career year in the regular season. Eventually he would back stop the Colorado Avalanche to their first Stanley Cup since 2001.
The 32-year-old would get rewarded for his play signing a 5-year $26,250,000 deal with the Washington Capitals back in July during free agency.
As Kuemper gets set for his new journey in Washington he took the time to unveil his new mask that he's going to wear next season. The mask was designed by the artist known as DaveArt.
DaveArt shared the artwork on his Instagram page on Saturday.
Darcy and I have been working together for more than a decade. This is a strict and clean design, created and painted with a maximum of 3-D effects, mixed with subtle vintage effects. I just love to go crazy with the detail works.
There's been a lot of nice masks of late but this one by Kuemper looks pretty sweet.
