The Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers continued the Battle of Alberta on Sunday night. The Oilers jumped ahead to a 4-0 lead on the back of an Evander Kane natural hat trick.
The game would take an interesting turn in the 3rd period. As Mike Smith went out to play the puck behind his net, Milan Lucic would use this opportunity to collide with Smith. The collision led to a scrum and to Lucic's ejection.
After the game Flames' Head Coach, Darryl Sutter gave his thoughts on the call.
I would say...they called it charging correct? Could you imagine if Looch did charge? What would of happened there? He actually tried to slow it down a little bit I think. It is what it is you know it was the score and who it was. Oh well.
Given their history it will be interesting to see if the inconsistent Department of Player Safety has anything to say.
