The Calgary Flames were forced to move on from Matthew Tkachuk this summer. After the young forward informed the team he had no intentions of signing a long-term contract. The Flames had just lost Johnny Gaudreau and the prospect of a rebuild seemed inevitable.

Luckily for the Flames and their fan base, General Manager Brad Treliving was able to swing one of the biggest trades in franchise history. Treliving acquired Jonathan Huberdeau, Mackenzie Weegar, Cole Schwindt and a 1st round pick in exchange for Tkachuk. The deal was one of the catalysts to the Flames also being able to land Nazem Kadri.

While outwardly everyone claims there are no hard feelings, it would appear that Darryl Sutter might feel otherwise. During a press conference Sutter was asked to compare the skill sets of Matthew Tkachuk and Tyler Toffoli.

One guy's won Stanley Cups and been a big part of long playoff runs.

One of the big criticisms about Tkachuk has continued to be his lack of production during the playoffs. In the Flames series loss to the Oilers, Tkachuk was a ghost after his hat trick in Game 1. With the Flames heading in a new direction it's likely Sutter won't be answering many questions about his former player going forward.
