This summer featured some big names involved in some very big moves. One of the most surprising moments was Evgeni Malkin claiming he was done in Pittsburgh and going to test the Free Agent market. With Malkin eventually signing back with the Penguins, he shared a comment on his intentions all along.
And although reports came out saying that he had decided to test the market for the first time in his career, Malkin said he always knew he would re-sign here, joking that he was just trying to add some intrigue to the situation.
Apparently things for Malkin were boring this summer so he decided he would make things interesting for Penguins fans. He has mentioned that he never intended to leave the Penguins but it still made some fans dream of some of the other potential linemates he may have linked up with.
With the core of Malkin, Crosby and Letang locked down for another 3 years the Penguins will look for another run at the Stanley Cup.
